ISTANBUL

Didem Kırış, born in Zonguldak, studied technical computer-science, pantomime and performing arts and is currently completing a master's degree in contemporary dance at Mimar Sinan University with a thesis on "Dialogue in Performance". She has performed with numerous directors* and choreographers* including Vecihi Ofluoğlu, Kubilay Karslıoğlu, Gonca Yalçıner, Salih Usta, Beliz Cihandide, Dilek Dervişoğlu Champs, Turgay Doğan, Ilgın Abeln and Alexandra Kazazou.

The former swimmer and cultural & social anthropologist Berk Kristal lives in Vienna and works both here and in Turkey as a performer, actor and translator. Moreover, he teaches German as foreign language. A close collaboration with the ensemble "daskunst" of Aslı Kışlal accompanied his work in Austria.

Didem Kırış, Zonguldak’ta doğdu. Bilgisayar Mühendisliği, Pandomim ve Sahne sanatları okudu. Şu anda MSGSÜ Çağdaş Dans Yüksek Lisans bölümünde “Performansta Diyalog” isimli tezini yazmaktadır. Vecihi Ofluoğlu, Kubilay Karslıoğlu, Gonca Yalçıner, Salih Usta, Beliz Demircioğlu Cihandide, Dilek Dervişoğlu Champs, Turgay Doğan ve Alexandra Kazazou gibi yönetmen ve koreograflarla çalıştı.

Eski yüzücü ve sosyal antropolog Berk Kristal Viyana’da yaşıyor ve hem Avusturya hem Türkiye’de performer, oyuncu ve çevirmen olarak çalışıyor. Aynı zamanda almanca yabancı dil öğretmenliği yapıyor. Aslı Kışlal’ın “daskunst” isimli ensemble’ı ile Avusturya’da çeşitli projelerde yer aldı.  

Two people are moving on the historically, politically and personally charged balkan-route in opposite directions, a third is connecting them. While C is walking from Vienna to Istanbul, D, who lives in Istanbul, is about to leave for Vienna to follow her partner (B), who migrated a long time ago. C writes postcards, letters and notes to D, and D writes to C in return. The departure-situation unites the two of them, as well as the search for their place in the world.

The performance focuses on the mirroring starting-position and looks behind the material traces of their exchange: the travel reports, anecdotes and postcards. The testimonies of their communication will be continuously published in the section

Tarihsel, politik ve kişisel bağlamlarla yüklü Balkan Yolunu zıt yönlere ilerleyen iki insan ve ikisini birbirine bağlayan bir üçüncü. C, Viyana’dan İstanbul’a doğru giderken, İstanbul’da yaşayan D, uzun zaman önce göçmüş olan partneri B’yi takip etmek için Viyana’ya doğru yola çıkıyor. C, D’ye kartpostallar, mektuplar ve notlar yazıyor, D de C’ye. Bu gitme hali ve Dünya’daki yerlerini bulma arayışı ikisini birleştiriyor. 

 

Performans, aynaladığı başlangıç noktalarına odaklanırken gerçekleşen etkişilimin ötesine bakmayı amaçlıyor: seyahat notları, anekdotlar ve kartpostallar. İletişimlerinin izleri yol boyunca düzenli olarak “Didem’e Mektuplar” bölümünde yayınlanacak. 

The Sabancı Museum of the University Sakıp Sabancı is a private art-museum located in Emirgan in one of the oldest settlements of Istanbul at the Bosporus. The former home of the industrialist Sakıp Sabancı, which was transformed into a museum and opened in 2002, houses rich calligraphy and painting collections and presents extensive exhibitions of contemporary art at international standard.

The garden of the museum grounds alongside the Bosporus will serve as the performance location.
